Entry for August 10, 2008
Well, I'll bet you all thought I would never write another entry for my blog. Well, some day some entry will be my last entry and maybe even this entry. I don't know what the Lord has in store for my life.

I have been busy this past month or so. My wife and I went to Astoria to view a collection of cabochons and slabs that a lady needed to sell. She had had a virus attack the nerves in her right arm so she could not do her lapidary work. Her sons were not really interested in the rocks and just wanted her to sell what she had. She also had fine finished jewelry.

We agreed on a price and we purchased them.

I have a new page for this jewelry and I will get more of the finished jewelry up on my web pages. These are the ones with the comercial settings.

Some of the cabs are going to need a little work but the material is really good stuff.

The slabs are excelent cab quality material. I will be working on a special page on my site for a listing of some of these slabs. Some I want to polish one side for specimens. These will also be listed.

I also went to Vancouver and purchased a gentlemans collection of rocks and slabs and misc lapidary supplies. What he had that I was really interested in was his slabs. Most of these will be worked up and tumbled.

His rough rock was not as interesting. I was able to save out some that I wanted to cut for slabs at a later time. I was able to list the material that I was not going to be able to use on Craig's list. I sold a good bit of it at 25 cents per pound. I just wanted it gone. What wasn't going to sell will make good rocks for a waterfall project we have.

No, I am not going into the business of pond and waterfall restoration. Ours just happened to be falling down so I am going to have to learn how to build one. I think I know what I am going to be doing as soon as I/we get back from Alaska.

Did I say, "Get back from Alaska"? Yes, my wife and I are going to be gone for a month - yes - 4 weeks. Thats what my wife gets for teaching in a private school for 31 years. (Look for some information and a link on my "about Me" page.) She is retiring or has retired and this trip is part of her retirement gift. I like being married to such a gifted lady.

My web orders are going to suffer as I will not be able to respond to the customers or fill their orders. I hope I don't loose many customers because of this. I don't really think I will be because I feel that God is with me in this rock project.

Now that I have bored you with this much, don't expect anything more for a month while we are gone.
